OAS 10g OPMN Cluster Status Fails to Display Remote Node - Log Shows " ons-connect .. Connection refused " (Doc ID 1269659.1)

Symptoms

Oracle Application Server 10g cluster consisting of two nodes.

Not able to display status of the remote node with the following command:

ORACLE_HOME/opmn/bin/opmnctl @cluster status

The following errors are observed in the opmn_log on both cluster nodes.

 [ons-connect] Connection x,<remote hostname> connect (Connection refused)

Changes

The command used to configure the two node cluster is:
opmnctl config topology update discover="node2.oracle.com:6200"
opmnctl config topology update discover="node1.oracle.comt:6200"
The rest of this article will assume ONS request port 6200 as an example.
