SOA 11g: FTP Adapter Does Not Pick Up Remote Files for Processing when a Minimum Age Other than 0 is Set (Doc ID 1270814.1)

Last updated on DECEMBER 15, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle SOA Suite - Version 11.1.1.3.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

You are using the FTP Adapter component of Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g Release 1 Patchset 2 (11.1.1.3.0) to poll for the arrival of new files in a directory on a remote machine and use this to trigger the creation of a SOA composite instance to process the file.

During the creation of the FTP Adapter, at the "File Polling" screen (step 8 of 12) of the FTP Adapter Wizard, you provided a non zero value for the "Minimum File Age" parameter. This configuration allows for newly created files, which may still being written to, to be ignored until they reach a minimum age at which point they are expected to be complete and available for processing.

However at run-time, even though files appear in the designated directory of the FTP Server being polled by the FTP adapter, these are not picked up by the adapter for processing even after they have reached the specified minimum age. The files may, eventually, get picked up for processing but only after they have been available at the FTP Server for a period much longer than expected (usually one or more hours).

Changes

The same composite application was previously working as expected when the FTP Adapter was configured with a zero value for "Minimum File Age" and if the configuration is returned to this setting the files are once again picked up for processing as soon as they are available.
