Cannot Change Document Type After Initial Upload (Doc ID 1317929.1)

Goal

Is it expected behavior that when attempting to upload a new document type as a new version of an already uploaded document that an error message is shown to the user?

Example:

Error pop up pointing to the "Browse" button states the following:

Error: Input Error
This is not a valid file type. Uploaded file must be of the same type as the previous version (.xls).

Enter the file name and location. Files must be less than 2 GB
