Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

The UCM 10g ldapuser provider functionality can be made to work in UCM 11g. In UCM 10g, the ldapuser provider could be used for authentication and authorization.  However, in UCM 11g, the old 10g style ldapuser provider cannot be used for authentication. Only Weblogic security providers can be used for authentication to UCM 11g.  The 10g ldapuser provider can be used for authorization, which means it can be used to get a user's roles and accounts.

In UCM 11g, LDAP providers are to be created in WebLogic's security realm. For some customers that upgrade from 10g UCM, it may be desirable to continue using a 10g style ldapuser provider. The recommended approach is to move the provider information into WebLogic, but for upgrade customers who want to use the older 10 provider for the interim, the below contains the steps for making the provider operable once again (since in 11g, it is not installed as operable).
For details on setting up 11g security providers in Weblogic, see the following note.
