Last updated on SEPTEMBER 11, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Internet Directory - Version 9.0.4 to 10.1.4 [Release 10gR1 to 10gR3]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

No Oracle Database, Networking, or Oracle Internet Directory (OID) 10g Java application (app) such as DBCA, NetCA, Netmgr, or Oracle Directory Manager (oidadmin) launches on Unix system(s).  Nothing happens after calling the app name, and nothing is returned/shown in the starting window.

Verified that the DISPLAY variable is properly set and that xclock runs ok.

Also verified that Oracle environment variables are set correctly.

Tried configuring for oidadmin debugging as per Note:343860.1 but the resulting oidadmin.trc file is 0 bytes/empty even after waiting several minutes.

No Java updates/changes recently; still running with default/installed versions.
