Last updated on MAY 01, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Directory Server Enterprise Edition - Version 11.1.1.3.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Registering the remote Directory Proxy Server (DPS) With the Directory Server Console Center (DSCC) - Error when viewing in DSCC: [LDAP: error code 52 - [Original error=52] Unable to retrieve a backend BIND connection.]

The 'dsccreg list-servers -a' command will list the remote DPS as registered, but when the DPS is viewed in DSCC, the following error message appears:

Name: <DPS IP ADDRESS>:<DPS PORT>
Operational Status: Warning: [LDAP: error code 52 - [Original error=52] Unable to retrieve a backend BIND connection.]
Description: <Description>
Instance Path: <Instance Path>

For example, DPS1 and DS1 are on server1, the same server1 also runs DSCC. Now another physical machine has server2 that hosts DPS2 and DS2.

There is no issue when registering the DPS1 and Directory Sever (DS) 1 with the local DSCC on server1. This issue relates to when trying to register DPS2 in DSCC on server1.
