How to Define the Interval at which the Indexer Automatic Update Cycle Checks for Changes (Doc ID 1330295.1)

Goal

The automatic update cycle will run every time there is content that needs indexing.  In other words, content checkins and deletes trigger the automatic update cycle to run.  However, when nothing is being checked in or deleted, the automatic update cycle will run on a predefined interval.  Is there a way to modify this interval?
