Oracle WebLogic Server Support Pattern: Investigating Missing Execute Threads (Doc ID 1333514.1)

Last updated on NOVEMBER 21, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle WebLogic Server - Version 6.1 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Purpose

Problem Description

Typically, the missing threads issue will be discovered during analysis of a server hang problem or unexplained timeouts or other confusing and unexplained behavior. In a default WebLogic Server configuration, there should be 15 execute threads for the default queue (0 through 14). Following is an excerpt from a thread dump showing that ExecuteThreads 13, 8, 6, 5, and 3 from the "default" queue are missing. There is no exception, stack trace, or notification of any kind in the server log indicating that threads have died.

Problem Troubleshooting

Please note that not all of the following items would need to be done. Some issues can be solved by only following a few of the items.
