Symptoms


On Linux versions of LDAPclient the passwd command outputs the following error:
host:user1 > passwd
Changing password for user user1.
Enter login(LDAP) password:
New UNIX password:
Retype new UNIX password:
LDAP password information update failed: Insufficient access
Insufficient 'write' privilege to the 'userPassword' attribute of entry 'uid=user1,ou=people,dc=example,dc=com'.
passwd: Permission denied
