SOA 11g: Cannot update email driver properties - the changes are lost after server restart (Doc ID 1339835.1)

Goal

You are unable to change the email driver properties for UMS.  You have tried updating through the Enterprise Manager (EM) console and also changing the driver xml file but after restart these changes are lost.

In EM, navigate to user messaging service -> usermessagingdriver-email server->properties and set outgoing email server and default outgoing email address values to those appropriate fro your environment.
Click on apply and then restart the server.
The changes are lost after restart.
