ODSEE / ISW - Identity Synchronization for Windows (ISW) Installation Can Fail for Multiple Reasons on Linux (Doc ID 1345818.1)

Last updated on NOVEMBER 23, 2022

Applies to:

Oracle Directory Server Enterprise Edition - Version 6.3 SP1 and later
Linux x86-64

Symptoms

There are a number of things can cause Identity Synchronization for  Windows (ISW) 6.0sp1 installation to fail.  The critical phases are during the administration server installation and configuration and then during the final steps of finishing the core install.

Make sure to use directory manager when starting configuration of ISW through the Java console as the issue identified in Document 1341070.1 could arise as well; please make sure to review this document as well.

Consider the following before attempting install on a Linux environment:

Changes

ISW installation installs and configures the Netscape Administration Server (this is sensitive to the Java requirements described below).  It also modifies the configuration of the MQ server which is installed separately before ISW. This process populates an administration suffix and ISW configuration suffix with data needed for the run-time to manage ISW. This configuration is what is use by the ISW processes and connectors to conduct synchronization with AD and the DS through the ISW services.
