Purpose
In this document we show an example of how to build a basic portal structure using WebCenter Spaces by building a navigation model and adding it to a page template.
A navigation consists of links pointing to the content of the portal, or to external resources.
Some examples of navigation include:
- Tabs or menus along the top of each page.
- Tree structures or links on the side of each page.
- Breadcrumbs showing the path a user has taken to reach the current location in the portal.
Navigation can be broken down into two main concepts:
- The navigation model.
This defines the content, structure, and metadata of the navigation.
This can be seen as: "What is displayed in your navigation". - The navigation visualization.
This determines how the navigation appears on the pages of the portal, say as a menu, a tree, or breadcrumbs.
This can be seen as: "How is displayed".

This exercise will create a navigation that will fetch all pages in the user's home space and display it as tabs along the top.
This document has been tested with WebCener PS3 (11.1.1.4.0) and PS4 (11.1.1.5.0) releases.
