Symptoms
Synopsis: MP4 video cannot be played on Android 2.2 and 2.3.x phone browsers when served from Oracle iPlanet Web Server 6.1.x or 7.0.x.
The Web Server is set up to serve files with ".mp4" extensions by adding the following line to the "mime.types" file to the web instance configuration.
It is known to be working on the iPhone and also working on the supported set of PC browsers like Internet Explorer and Firefox but it's just not working on Android phones. The same MP4 video file can be played on the Android browser when served from another web server or application server like Apache HTTP server or Tomcat without any problems.
