Symptoms

When the Distributed Capture service or any other Capture server application (Commit Server, Import Server, Recognition Server) attempts to send an email notification (either as a test or actual notification), the following errors are reported:

Failed to connect to email server your.mail.server. Error Number: 9, Error: There was an error connecting to the SMTP mail server.
Failed to send email notification. Error Number: 9, Error: There was an error connecting to the SMTP mail server.
