After Upgrading to 11.1.1.2, ODSM Connecting To OVD 11g Admin SSL 8899 Port Fails With: Error Server <OVD_HOSTNAME>:<OVD_ADMIN_PORT> Has Failed SSL Verification (Doc ID 1369765.1)

Last updated on APRIL 06, 2021

Applies to:

Oracle Virtual Directory - Version 11.1.1.2.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Oracle Virtual Directory (OVD) 11g.

Scenario:
QA and Dev envs
QA still running 11.1.1.1.
No firewalls/load balancers in between hosts.

In the process of upgrading both to 11.1.1.5, started with Dev upgrade to 11.1.1.2 first as required, by using the following steps:
a) Upgraded the Weblogic to 10.3.2 using patch 9082192.
b) Installed Oracle Fusion Middleware 11.1.1.2 under a new ORACLE_HOME
c) Used the Patch assistant and setup the patchMaster.properties file
d) Ran the 'ant master-patch-schema'
e) Created a new domain using config.sh giving it a new name using the Admin Server, Managed Servers, Clusters and machines
f) Configured the admin server, managed servers, clusters, machines, etc
g) ran ant master-patch-domain
h) ran master-patch-oinstance
i) ran master-register-oinstance
j) ant master-start-domain-new

Everything works except for Oracle Directory Services Manager (ODSM) to OVD via SSL admin port 8899 which returns the following error to the screen:

Error
Server <OVD_HOSTNAME>:<OVD_ADMIN_PORT> has failed SSL verification. This may be due to a host address or port problem or trust could not be verified or was declined.

The $FMW_HOME/user_projects/domains/<DOMAIN _NAME>/servers/<NAME_OF_MANAGED_SERVER, i.e. wls_ods1>/logs\wls_ods1-diagnostic.log shows:

2011-10-20T11:01:47.669-07:00 wls_ods1 ERROR] [ http://oracle.ldap.odsm.ui.common.Login [tid: userId: <anonymous> ecid: <ECID> APP: odsm#11.1.1.2.0 ODSM-00007 SSL connection failed.

Tried <Note:1269135.1> ODSM Connecting To OVD 11g Admin Port In SSL Mode Fails With Error Server <HOSTNAME>:<OVD_ADMIN_PORT> Has Failed SSL Verification

However, the file odsm.cer could not be found anywhere in the FMW home. In QA, still running 11.1.1.1, this file in one directory that includes a long directory name with numbers.  In this Dev env, there two similar directories with long numbers, but no odsm.cer file in either one.

Tried copying the odsm.cer from QA to both of those directories in Dev, and then restarted the managed server, however the same error and log error continue.

Changes

Upgraded from 11.1.1.1 to 11.1.1.2.
