How To Sync orclguid Attribute Value From OID To An Oracle Database Table Through OVD 11g Adapters? (Doc ID 1392658.1)

Last updated on JULY 03, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Virtual Directory - Version 11.1.1.2.0 to 11.1.1.9.0 [Release 11g]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Is it possible to sync orclguid attribute value from Oracle Internet Directory (OID) to an Oracle Database (DB) table through Oracle Virtual Directory (OVD) 11g adapters?

For example:
1. Create an OID adapter in OVD
2. Create a database adapter for an Oracle DB in OVD
3. Create a join adapter to have joint view of information from both OID and database user table
4. Set orclguid as a storable attribute in database adapter

How to have OVD update the database table with the orclguid value from OID?

Use Case:
Would like to use OAM/WebGate to protect an application and achieve SSO and to use user self-management feature. As there is already a user database, which includes user and group information, created same users in OIM and use OVD to create join view of information from both database and OID so the application can go to OVD and search user and group info.

At first will load users from the existing database to OIM, but would like to place GUIDs back into the database, and once set up provisioning and reconciliation between the database and OIM, will be able to use GUID for mapping users.

Since the OVD adapter is set up, would like to know if this can be achieved through OVD. So, the whole purpose is to populate DB entries with orclGUID from a matching OID entry through OVD.
