'container merge' between two versions of a container fails with CDR-03129 (Doc ID 1403453.1)

Goal


When performing a 'container merge' between two versions of a container in Oracle Designer, the merge operation starts and the merge process continues for an hour and then the following message is issued which blocks the merge process:
CDR-03129: The common ancestor could not be determined
