"Missing index.html" Errors Filling HTTP Server Error Log - ohs1.log (Doc ID 1405194.1)

Symptoms


In the Oracle HTTP Server (OHS) error log (typically ohs1.log in release 11g) an error message similar to:
[2012-01-24T14:20:28.0022-05:00] [OHS] [ERROR:32] [OHS-9999] [core.c] [host_id: <customer's hostname.domain>] [host_addr: 127.0.0.1] [tid: 1241295168] [user: root] [ecid: 004hogABHwuFw000jzwkno0005ER0000EQ] [rid: 0] [VirtualHost: main] File does not exist: /<DocumentRoot from customer's httpd.conf>/index.html

-Occurs multiple times. 

-The errors are logged at regular times - usually 20 seconds between occurrences.

Changes

At some point the index.html file in the directory defined in the DocumentRoot directive was removed or permissions were changed to make it unreadable.
