Tuxedo Application Servers Cannot Open The Tuxedo Message Catalogs On Linux (Doc ID 1427514.1)

Last updated on JUNE 10, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle Tuxedo - Version 10.3.0 and later
Linux x86-64

Symptoms

Porting an application to the Linux platform. Most application processes ,and also the Tuxedo system processes, can open the Tuxedo message catalogs but some application processes can not. This does not occur  on other operating systems for the same applications.

Getting the following error message in the ULOG for some application servers:

NLS:4: Cannot open message catalog LIBTUX_CAT, set 1, num 262; check TUXDIR=/opt/mytuxpath/Tuxedo, LANG=C

Other NLS:4 error messages appear later in the ULOG with different message numbers.

The 262 message normally occurs at boot time for all application servers using Tuxedo libraries. .
This is what the 262 message should look like in the ULOG when an application server boots up:

LIBTUX_CAT:262: INFO: Standard main starting

Changes
