XMLPost issue when referencing asset with multi-byte spaces in the name (Doc ID 1438452.1)

Symptoms

When using XMLPost to import an asset which references another asset which has a multi-byte space in the name:
### xmlpost debug is ON ###Setting product attr: <asset type> to ? ??colon delimiter list has 1 rows.Set...value is: ? ??Error: <asset type> could not load (<asset type>) ? ??.
