java.lang.RuntimeException Using WebCenter Portal With ADF Runtime Libraries 11g Release 2 (Doc ID 1444302.1)

Symptoms

After applying patches referenced on this Document 1328698.1, custom WebCenter Portal applications can no longer be deployed.
The webcenter.ear application itself shows as 'Failed' deployment status.

Attempting to deploy either the custom applications or webcenter.ear shows these errors in the managed server log files :

java.lang.RuntimeException: java.lang.VerifyError: class oracle.adfinternal.view.faces.renderkit.html.portlet.PortletRenderer overrides final method decode.(Ljavax/faces/context/FacesContext;Ljavax/faces/component/UIComponent;)V
at com.sun.faces.config.ConfigureListener.contextInitialized(ConfigureListener.java:294)
at weblogic.servlet.internal.EventsManager$FireContextListenerAction.run(EventsManager.java:481)

etc..
