DIP 11g SSL Test Connection Fails With "Cannot connect directory server" (Doc ID 1447204.1)

Symptoms


A Directory Integration Platform (DIP) 11g synchronization profile is being configured for SSL server authentication (mode 2).

When the profile is set to use SSL mode 2 the following is displayed:

Warning:
To connect in SSL mode, the required certificates must already be available in the DIP JKS.



Then when "Test Connection" is clicked the following error occurs:

Cannot connect directory server at <ip>:<port>



The instructions  in the General parameters state:

SSL Settings: Specify whether to enable or disable SSL settings. If you enable SSL Settings, the root certificates of the target directory must be in the Oracle Directory Integration Platform keystore to successfully connect or test the connection to the target directory



The DIP keystore has been configured according to the DIP documentation and the root CA certificate for the remote server with which synchronization will be performed has been imported into the keystore. Likewise the remote server certificate store has been configured with the root CA certificate of the local DIP Directory Server certificate.
