When using the Oracle Universal Installer to install replication by selecting High Availability->Replication->LDAP, the installer assumes by default that you wish to replicate the entire directory.   Part of the process deletes everything on the new replica and automatically boostraps from the specified consumer (sponsor) node.  However, this method can only be used when both OID instances are the same version.   This document describes how to setup LDAP replication when suppler and consumer are a different releases.

Scope

The detailed documentation for this procedure may be found in:

Oracle Internet Directory Administrator's Guide 10g (10.1.4.0.1) Part Number B15991-01, specifically in chapter 30 - 30.4.4 Installing and Configuring an LDAP-Based Replica with Customized Settings

Note:  Two way LDAP replication is ONLY available at release 10.1.4.  Also, if you are using 10.1.2 then the corresponding procedure is in chapter 20 of the Oracle Internet Directory Administrator's Guide.

If you are unsure, or have questions about this procedure please refer to the detailed documentation.

This note has been verified to work for a one-way ldap based replication configuration where the Supplier was a standalone OID node and the consumer/replica was a 2-node OID HA cluster with a RAC DB as backend.  In that scenario choose just one of the two nodes of the HA cluster for the replica and use its physical hostname (not the virtual hostname).
