Symptoms

Renaming a file with a hash (#) character in the name over WebDAV (DIS or WebFolders) will result in a truncated filename. All characters after the hash/pound sign as well as the hash/pound character may will be lost.

Example scenario:

1 Check in a file with filename ABC#123.pdf using the standard check-in page
2 Place the file in a folder
3 Access this folder over WebDAV (DIS / Windows WebFolders)
4 Rename the file to ABC#123XYZ.pdf over WebDAV
5 Find that the actual filename becomes ABC. Everything behind the # (hash) is removed.
