Symptoms

ENVIRONMENT
-----------------
Client:
Linux  2.6 x86_64 GNU/Linux
JDBC 11.2.0.3

Server:
Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.5.0 - 64bit
Linux 2.6 x86_64

A new client host using JDBC 11.2.0.3 was added to a set of other existing client hosts for connection to an Oracle  10.2.0.5 RAC database. After running successfully for a while, the following errors started to be seen:

java.sql.SQLRecoverableException: IO Error: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection
Caused by: java.net.UnknownHostException: <host.domain>

The problem is limited to the new client - other hosts work fine, and batches that run fine on other hosts fail on the new host. No problems have been seen on the database.

Changes

New client host was introduced for connection to an Oracle  10.2.0.5 RAC database.
