ODSEE Truncating Search Filters In Access Log Beyond 1024 Characters (Doc ID 1459073.1)

Last updated on MAY 18, 2012

Applies to:

Oracle Directory Server Enterprise Edition - Version 6.3 SP1 to 11.1.1.5.0 [Release 6.0 to 11gR1]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

ODSEE access log is limited to 1024 characters for large search filters. For example, an ldapsearch with a filter over 1024 characters would appear like this in the access log,

[18/May/2012:09:24:18 +0100] conn=87381 op=4 msgId=6 - SRCH base="ou=dcs it,ou=groups,ou=services,ou=global,dc=test123,dc=com" scope=2 filter="(&(objectClass=groupofuniquenames)(|(uniqueMember=cn=foobar_user_abc_TW,ou=DCS IT,ou=groups,ou=services,ou=global,dc=test123,dc=com,ou=global,dc=test123,dc=com)(uniqueMember=cn=foobar_user_abc_TV,ou=DCS IT,ou=groups,ou=services,ou=global,dc=test123,dc=com,ou=global,dc=test123,dc=com)(uniqueMember=cn=foobar_user_abc_TS,ou=DCS IT,ou=groups,ou=services,ou=global,dc=test123,dc=com,ou=global,dc=test123,dc=com)(uniqueMember=cn=foobar_user_abc_EA,ou=DCS IT,ou=groups,ou=services,ou=global,dc=test123,dc=com,ou=global,dc=test123,dc=com)(uniqueMember=cn=foobar_user_abc_TQ,ou=DCS IT,ou=groups,ou=services,ou=global,dc=test123,dc=com,ou=global,dc=test123,dc=com)(uniqueMember=cn=DBCRIS_APL,ou=DCS IT,ou=groups,ou=services,ou=global,dc=test123,dc=com,ou=global,dc=test123,dc=com)(uniqueMember=cn=DBCRIS_DEV,ou=DCS IT,ou=groups,ou=services,ou=global,dc=test123,dc=com,ou=global,dc=test123,dc=com)(uniqueMember=cn=foobar_user_abc_TO,ou=DCS IT,ou=groups,ou=services,ou=global,dc=test123,dc=com,ou=global,dc=test123,dc=com)(uniqueMembe..." attrs=ALL

See how the filter has been truncated at the end.
