Admin Applets Freeze or Hang when Using Java 1.7 Web Browser Plug-in (Doc ID 1465473.1)

Symptoms

After launching an Admin Applet within a web browser using the Oracle Java 1.7.x plug-in, subsequent selections cause the applet or pop-up to "hang" or "freeze".

Recovery typically requires closing the browser tab and killing the applet.

At no time is the applet able to perform work.

Java Console debug and tracing will catch various exceptions.

 You recently installed the Oracle JRE 1.7.x and its included web browser plug-in, or upgraded to it on a client PC.
