Symptoms

On Oracle iPlanet Web Server 7.0 using the built in reverse proxy and the sed-response Output filter, requests to download Microsoft  Office .docx, xlsx, or pptx file extension are corrupted with an extra one byte added to the content-length. When removing the sed-response Output filter, the corruption does not happen.
