Provider Not Visible By User Given Write Permissions On Provider (Doc ID 1475436.1)

Last updated on MARCH 01, 2021

Applies to:

Oracle Service Registry - Version 10.3 to 11.1.1.2.0 [Release AS10gR3 to Oracle11g]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

You have an OSR provider, for example 'Prov1'. It is visible under the list of providers. Any service registered in this provider also displays the provider as Prov1.
When you give a user WRITE permissions on this provider Prov1, this provider is no longer visible under the list of providers and the service published under this provider show their provider as N/A.

-Occurs when you are not logged in or you are logged in by a user not having WRITE permissions on this provider.

-Occurs only in the publication registry and not in the discovery registry.

Use Case:

For Discovery or Publication -

 Registry Control:
 1) Logon as 'admin'.
 2) Create a new provider (Add a new business).
 3) Add a new service to the provider.

 Business Service Control:
 4) Do not logon
 5) Select Providers, the new provider is listed
 6) Search Services, the new service is listed with its provider

 Registry Control:
 7) Logon as 'admin'.
 8) Create a new default user.
 9) Edit the provider and add the user, add all permissions to the user

 Business Service Control:
 10) Do not logon
 11) Select Providers, the new provider is not listed
 12) Search Services, the new service is listed with provider 'N/A'

Note: Removing the user from the provider resets the behavior to that seen in
 steps 4 and 5 above.
