Symptoms

When applying <Patch:7030404> on Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.4, opatch fails with the following output:

 

The following problems were encountered when trying to backup Java class files:
  1. <ORACLE_HOME>/jdbc/lib/classes12dms.jar [ No file found.]
  2. <ORACLE_HOME>/jdbc/lib/classes12.zip [ No file found. ]
  3. <ORACLE_HOME>/jdbc/lib/classes12.jar [ No file found. ]
  4. <ORACLE_HOME>/jdbc/lib/classes12dms.jar [ No file found. ]

...

FILE PROBLEM: some files are not patched.
OPATCH_JAVA_ERROR: Patch was not successfully applied.
Verification of the patch failed.

ERROR: OPatch failed as verification of the patch failed.
