Symptoms
The Symptom of the issue is that Weblogic Server 10.3.6 is unable to use a third party database driver when the option "Test Configuration" is used during the datasource creation. The issue happens when the third party database driver by placing this driver in the $DOMAIN_ROOT/lib directory. As a result, Weblogic Server is unable to run the Test Configuration for the datasource and throws a java.lang.ClassNotFoundException.
The server log file will report that the third party database driver itself has been added successfully to the CLASSPATH, but the following error will follow (as an example):
