Applying a One-off Patch on Portal 11g gets Invocation Returned Error... '', Return Code = 1 (Doc ID 1491602.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 10, 2023

Applies to:

Portal - Version 11.1.1.1.0 to 11.1.1.7.0 [Release FMW11g]

Symptoms

When trying to install any one-off Patch, the following error is seen from the Opatch utility:

This may happen when attempting to apply new one-off patches after a new Patchset was applied.

The same error happens even with the latest OPatch release installed and the mandatory Patch:15844859 successfully installed as suggested in Note 1443292.1 - Recommended Patches for Oracle Portal 11g.

The apply_xxx.log will also contain errors such as:

OUI-67073:OPatch failed: ApplySession failed in system modification phase
OUI-67133:Execution of PRE script failed, with return value = 1

It can happen with a variety of patch combinations.

Changes

Recently applied a new Patchset.

For example moved from 11.1.1.4.0 to 11.1.1.6.0 or 11.1.1.7.0.
