Symptoms
From RP050, Rolling patch installer requires Java to update $ORACLE_HOME/registry.xml
README.html described ORACLE_HOME should be set before RP installer runs, however, there is no document regarding Java.
If there is no Java in PATH, usually old java(1.4) in /usr/bin
If Java version is too old, RP installer errors with following error.
In this case, the patch installed correctly, you can ignore it.
