OrclGUID of OID Server Chaining entries not compatible with products like EBS (Doc ID 1502508.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 15, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle Internet Directory - Version 11.1.1 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

The orclGUID attribute is formatted differently for users that are defined in OID-proper and for those that are visible in the OID DIT through Server Chaining (in this case, from iPlanet):

ldapsearch -h <OID HOSTNAME> -p <PORT#> -D cn=orcladmin -w <PASSWORD> -b "dc=<COMPANY>,dc=com" -s sub cn=orcladmin orclguid
dn: cn=orcladmin,cn=Users,dc=dc=<COMPANY>,dc=com
orclguid: <ORCLGUID_STRING>

ldapsearch -h <OID HOSTNAME> -p <PORT#> -D cn=orcladmin -w <PASSWORD> -b "dc=<COMPANY>,dc=com" -s sub uid=XXX orclguid
dn: uid=XXX,cn=Users,cn=<CONTAINER>,dc=us,dc=oracle,dc=com
orclguid: <ORCLGUID_STRING>

Although technically the Hexadecimal numbers 0A-0F are equivalent to 0a-0f, the lack of consistency poses a problem for applications that are written to expect consistency, such as E-Business Suite.
