Error Deploying Custom Portlet To WebCenter Portal (Doc ID 1510749.1)

Symptoms

A portlet ear file has been built (a JSR-268 portlet deployed to WC_CustomServicesProvider) following the WebCenter documentation. Trying to deploy it to a custom WebCenter producer managed server, the following error is generated:
