WebLogic Server Support Pattern: JVM Crashes and Core Dumps (Doc ID 1519470.1)

Last updated on MAY 05, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle WebLogic Server - Version 8.1 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

WebLogic Server is certified to run in a variety of Operating Systems and, for each platform, it is compatible with one or more of a range of JDKs supplied by various JDK vendors. Among these are the Oracle JDK (and its predecessors, Sun HotSpot and Oracle JRockit), the IBM JDK, Apple Java HotSpot, and the HP JDK. It is a cardinal rule that the java JVM process should never crash and terminate with a core dump and that any such crash is evidence of a bug in the JDK (or in third-party library code). What do you do in such a case?
