OVD 11g Slow Performance Or No Entries Returned From ldapsearch (Doc ID 1527798.1)

Oracle Virtual Directory (OVD) 11g has been configured with multiple adapters under "dc=<COMPANY>,dc=com", e.g.:

Adapter 1: dc=<ADAPTER1>,dc=<COMPANY>,dc=com

Adapter 2: dc=<ADAPTER2>,dc=<COMPANY>,dc=com

Adapter 3: dc=<ADAPTER3>,dc=<COMPANY>,dc=com

When a search is made with base "dc=<COMPANY>,dc=com", the search takes a long time, or returns no entries, or returns errors such as:

ldap_search: additional info: LDAP Error 2 : connection closed
