Oracle iPlanet Web Server 7.0 Reverse Proxy Issue With One Of Our Applications Has a Problem with 401 Errors (Doc ID 1538883.1)

Symptoms

On Oracle iPlanet Web Server 7.0 using the built in reverse proxy server to proxy to an application running on Apache Tomcat. When clicking on a link in the application it makes a request for DELETE  or PUT method, the following 401 error occurs and users are prompted with an authentication dialog box.




The expected behavior should be a successful 200 HTTP response code from the  Apache Tomcat server through the reverse proxy.
