WebLogic Defaulting To ANSI_X3.4-1968 Despite The System Default Encoding Being UTF-8 (Doc ID 1540980.1)

Goal

 When running a WebLogic Managed Server the file.encoding system property is being set to ANSI_X3.4-1968 instead of the system default of UTF-8.

When WLS server is started using the default scripts, file encoding is  taking the correct value.
 
Consider the folllwing test case:

- Start the node manager.

For this particular run, see nodemanager.properties and check the following properties:

 

- Restart the node manager.

- Start the WLS managed server from the admin console, the server start up log shows file.encoding as ANSI_X3.4-1968


Possible Solution:  Setting the attribute -Dfile.encoding in the server startup script.
