IHS With Webgate Has Many Waiting Threads, WebGate oblog.log Reports Many ObError 124 and Network Exceptions (Doc ID 1541405.1)

Symptoms

OAM Webgate 10g has been installed and configure for IHS 7.0 webserver.

Since then the IHS webserver has been experiencing problems, it registers peaks of threads in "Sending Reply" status in the Webgate module.

This is an extract from the error_log which shows hundreds of threads in Sending Reply state while executing code inside the webgate module:

 

When the connections are monitored using network tracing tools, connections are seen to be re-created between Webgate and Access/OAM Server every 10 minutes. They are reused for 10 minutes, then they are re-created on a different port.

This is regardless of the Max Session Time configured in the WebGates. If it is set to 20 minutes or 1 hour, the connections are nevertheless reestablished every 10 minutes and the errors in the WebGate logs continue to occur.
