This article tells how to change the timeout value configured for an LDAP server in Oracle iPlanet 7.0.

The timeout value been refered to can be found here:

i) Login to the Admin Server Console and click on 'Configurations' tab

ii) Select the instance and click on 'Access Control' then 'Authentication Databases'

You would see the databases listed, click on the database name. The screen below shows what would pop up once you click on the database name.

Please note that the default timeout value is 10 secs. The default value would not be seen in the server.xml file.
