Site Tree in publishing target shows no Placed nor Unplaced pages after publishing

Symptoms
After publishing, Site Tree in target shows no Placed nor Unplaced pages.
In the target, duplicate entries for the site in question are found in SitePlanTree table, e.g.:

Also, all placed an unplaced pages are registered under one of the 2 nodes, e.g.: all the nodes are registered under nid=<nid1> and no nodes under nid=<nid2>.
