Oracle iPlanet Web Server Shows Instance State "Not Running" on Solaris 10
(Doc ID 1553747.1)
Last updated on OCTOBER 31, 2024
Applies to:
Oracle iPlanet Web Server - Version 7.0 and laterInformation in this document applies to any platform.
Symptoms
When iPlanet Web Server Admin Server is running on a Solaris machine that manages a few dozen instances, after a few days, the Admin Server may show that the Web Instance is not running when the Web Instance is actually still running and servicing requests. The instance can be stopped and even "wadm get-perfdump" is working perfectly.
The pid file /<TEMP>/https-<instance>-<someid>/pid is present and the content of this file is valid. Hence this is not the same issue as <Bug: 12304725> and is only specific to Solaris 9 and 10.
