Goal
When the iPlanet web server is configured as a reverse proxy to pass through requests to a backend (or origin) server and the remote backend server is configured with SSL, it's sometimes necessary to instruct the web server whether or not to validate the certificate presented by the backend/origin server. The validate-server-cert parameter can be used for this purpose. But how exactly does validate-server-cert validate a certificate?
