Symptoms

The following error occurs when you are using OPatch to apply a one-off patch to an Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.7.0) installation:


Jar Action: Destination File

<file_name> does not exists or is not writeable

<package_name>, 11.1.1.7.0: Cannot update file


This failure may happen in any Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g (11.1.1.7) installed home, where oracle_common exists. It may happen with any one-off patch, depending on which files need to be updated. Below is an error stack for an Oracle Enterprise Manager Fusion Middleware Control (fmwc) patch:

 

Changes

- Installed Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.7.0) or applied Patch Set 6 (11.1.1.7.0) to an existing installation.

- Installed Oracle Forms & Reports 11g Release 2 (11.1.2.2.0) or applied Patch Set 2 (11.1.2.2.0 to an existing installation.
