OAM 11g Protected Resource Access Causes Connection Reset Error In Browser (Doc ID 1568286.1)

Last updated on MAY 11, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Access Manager - Version 11.1.1.5.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

An Oracle Access Manager (OAM) 11g cluster has been installed and configured, and Oracle HTTP Server (OHS) instances with WebGates have been configured to route OAM Server requests (/oam/server) to the clustered nodes.

This OHS / OAM setup has been tested and the mod_wl_ohs routing is working, access to OAM-protected resources results in the OAM SSO login page being displayed, then submit of valid credentials allows access to the protected resource.

Then a BIG-IP F5 load balancer was configured to route the OAM Server requests to the OHS instances.

Now when an OAM-protected resource is accessed the OAM SSO login page is not displayed, instead the error " The connection was reset " is displayed in the browser.

The setup is not working with F5.

When the problem occurs, the HTTP Header trace shows that after access to the protected resource the application webgate returns an HTTP-302 redirect to http(s)://LBRHOST.DOMAIN:PORT/oam/server/obrareq.cgi.... and this redirection causes the Connection Reset error.

Examination of the OHS access logs does not show any sign of the /oam/server/obrareq.cgi request reaching the OHS tiers.
