ODSEE - Handling NOT (!) Filter Queries With Indexes (Doc ID 1572576.1)

Last updated on MAY 31, 2022

Applies to:

Oracle Directory Server Enterprise Edition - Version 11.1.1.7.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Search filters containing the NOT (!) symbol will (in most cases) result in an unindexed search because those type of searches can not be indexed.

For example -

[11/Aug/2018:21:17:38 -0400] conn=xx op=1 msgId=2 - SRCH base="dc=<SUFFIX_DN>" scope=2 filter="(!(description=*))" attrs="dn"
[11/Aug/2018:21:17:38 -0400] conn=xx op=1 msgId=2 - RESULT err=0 tag=101 nentries=155 etime=0 notes=U

This article goes over the use of the NOT (!) symbol in search filters.
