Circular associations (Doc ID 1577732.1)

Goal

When associating an article asset A1 to another asset A2, in the A2 asset if the user associates back the parent asset A1 by embedding it in a CKEditor field, that can create an infinite loop when rendering the asset's Template.  As a result of this infinite loop, java.lang.StackOverflowError can arising when rendering the pages for A1 or A2.

Is there a way to prevent the contributors/users from creating a circular association?
