CKEditor - Unable To Add The Asset Link To Image Included Via Inclusion Template (Doc ID 1596383.1)

Symptoms

In Sites 11.1.1.6.1, FirstSiteII, Contributor UI, with chrome Version 21.0.1171.0 and Firefox:

a. create a test template with the following code, making sure span tags wrap around the img tag:

</span>

b. find a Content asset
c. edit the Content asset
d. in the Content asset ckeditor field, include any asset with the test template created in step a
e. click on the image to select it
f. click on the "add asset link" button
g. the problem is that because the span tags are wrapping the img tag, you are unable to add the asset link, and see a "text to link to the asset must be selected first" message
