Multi-Byte Characters in Languages Like Arabic and German Are Changed to "?" (Question Mark) in ODI (Doc ID 1600109.1)

The article applies to all releases of ODI like the current 12C as well as to previous releases.

Symptoms

Trying to load different language data (English, Korean, Thai, Russian, Arabic, German...) into an Oracle table, using Oracle Data Integrator (ODI).

When performing this load, the target Oracle table gets populated, but for Arabic and German characters, the data is shown with question marks ( ???).

The data in the source table is shown correct in both the database and ODI. But the target Oracle table shows wrong data getting populated:
