Last updated on MARCH 22, 2018

Applies to:

Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Trying to load different language data (English, Korean, Thai, Russian, Arabic, German...) into an Oracle table, using Oracle Data Integrator (ODI).

When performing this load, the target Oracle table gets populated, but for Arabic and German characters, the data is shown with question marks ( ???).

The data in the source table is shown correct in both the database and ODI. But the target Oracle table shows wrong data getting populated:

HELLO
????? (this stands for some Arabic characters)
こんにちは
привет
?????? (this stands for some German characters)
안녕하세요
...

These Oracle table columns are defined as NCHAR/NVARCHAR2.

Following are the Oracle database NLS settings in use:

NLS_LANGUAGE KOREAN
NLS_TERRITORY KOREA
NLS_CHARACTERSET KO16KSC5601
NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET AL16UTF16
